Arc Raiders Publisher Reportedly Wants The Rights To Make A New StarCraftGame

Kotaku · 2026-09-02

Nexon, publisher of *Arc Raiders*, is reportedly working to secure a license from Blizzard to develop a new *StarCraft* game. A senior gaming official claims a contract between the two companies for the *StarCraft* intellectual property is nearing finalization, according to a report in South Korean newspaper Chosun, via Wccftech. This potential move aims to capitalize on *StarCraft*'s continued popularity in Korea, where it remains a top-10 most-played game in internet cafes, nearly 30 years after its 1998 release. However, Nexon CEO Junghun Lee has previously stated that companies should be assumed to be using generative AI, raising concerns that this technology might be employed in the new *StarCraft* development, potentially leading Blizzard to include stipulations against it. Meanwhile, Blizzard is also reportedly working on its own open-world *StarCraft* spin-off, which might be glimpsed at BlizzCon 2026.
