The two-hour format made potentially exciting games feel interchangeable, while most of the attention went to a brief Final Fantasy VII Revelation appearance and the closing reveal of a remastered The Witcher 3. The showcase’s awkward position between Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards also left it feeling like a home for games that were not large enough to headline those events.
