This Spanish Princess and Norwegian Prince Both Applied to University Under a Different Name In Hopes of “Normal” Treatment

Spain's Infanta Sofía and Norway's Prince Sverre Magnus applied to Forward College using different names to experience "normal" treatment during the application process. Infanta Sofía used her full name, Sofía de Borbón Ortiz, while Prince Sverre Magnus applied as Sverre Magnus af Glücksborg, according to Boris Walbaum, the director of Forward College, in an interview with *Paris Match*. Walbaum stated that Sofía went through the same interviews as other students and that the college was informed the Infanta wished to be treated like any other student, with security arrangements handled discreetly.
Infanta Sofía began her studies at the university's Lisbon campus last year and will now attend the Paris campus. Prince Sverre Magnus, who is 20, will start his bachelor's degree in business management at the Lisbon campus before moving to Paris like Sofía. His first year coincides with a turbulent period for the Norwegian royal family, as his father, King Haakon, ascended the throne on August 28 after King Harald V's death, and his mother, Queen Mette-Marit, faced health complications. Due to the queen's health, Sverre Magnus's older sister, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra, will study as an exchange student at the University of Oslo instead of the University of Sydney.
