World Of Warcraft Is Coming To D&D, And Will Let You Grind Renown Just Like The MMO

GameSpot · 2026-07-31

The forthcoming Dungeons & Dragons expansion, "World of Warcraft," will allow players to undertake campaigns set in Azeroth, integrating numerous elements from Blizzard's iconic MMO. It introduces all 13 WoW classes, with six new subclasses, three modified ones, and over 40 specializations. Eleven WoW races, including tauren, draenei, forsaken, and trolls, are added, alongside WoW-specific rules for existing D&D races.

The expansion incorporates over 60 new spells and 25 magic items, including mounts and companion creatures, from the Warcraft universe. Mimicking the MMO's systems, it offers 10 WoW professions for crafting and gear improvement, and 25 factions with which players can "grind Renown" to unlock perks and rewards, much like in the original game. For combat, 50 new monsters and 30 dungeon bosses are included, with seven iconic WoW dungeons playable, such as the Deadmines and Onyxia’s Lair. An optional Icecrown Citadel Adventure Map Pack will guide high-level players (16-20) to confront the Lich King.
